Permits for the Kawa Karpo Pilgrimage

Hi!

Does anyone know how to go about obtaining permits in order to hike the Kawa Kawpo trail in northern Yunnan.  Half of it goes through Tibet?

Officially, foreigners are prohibited to enter Tibet overland, so permit for this trekking route is unlikely obtainable. But as far as I know, there is no checkpoint around Kawakarpo Pilgrimage Circle so far, because those are remote small villages en route. If you don't mind taking the risk, you can still make it.
