quesiton about trekking in rural China
Hello,
I plan on going to China next year. I have an inquiry about my possible travel plan.
I would like to travel in an extremely rural area in southern china. Do you have any suggestions? I don't want to be caught up in a tourist trap or spend much time in cities. Any suggestions would be great!

All depends when you are planning to go. The miao & dong villages in south east guizhou are really beautiful and have kept their authenticity. We travelled from Guilin to Guiyang in 15 days after Chinese October holidays last year and it was great. Maybe a month too late though cause all the rice was harvested in these mountainous areas. Great places were Zhaoxing Tang'an- Zengchong - xijiang. All the info on this site available

Jiuzhai Valley (Jiuzhaigou in Chinese) is often said to be the most beautiful place in China. Trekking through rural Tibetan villages is an option here. The park are working on eco-tourism and trekking within the park and it will be ready by next year I'm told. You can check the progress on www.jiuzhai.com

Hi Andrew
Have a nice trip to China.
In which month you are planning to go to China? I also heard that miao and dong villages are best places for tourists. Here you will find the real culture of china. The people are very peaceful and show courtesy for foreigners.
This is very helpful site, please check it out.
